Yarn-bombing is a warm welcome for future tenants of new RESOLVE buildings

RESOLVE, the Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF), Morrison Homes and StreetSide Developments: A Qualico Company celebrated the kickoff of two new affordable housing projects on June 9, 2015.

Providence House (Morrison Homes) and Aurora on the Park (StreetSide Developments) will be home to a total of 49 adults experiencing homelessness. Each builder contributed a “Visionary” gift to RESOLVE to leverage provincial government grants and construct these much-needed apartment buildings.

Providence House and Aurora on the Park are part of a series of buildings CHF is constructing as part of its RESOLVE projects. These projects are being supported by a joint contribution by 11 Calgary home builders — ALBI Luxury by Brookfield Residential, Brookfield Residential, Calbridge Homes, Cardel Lifestyles and Logel Homes, Cedarglen Living, Homes by Avi Group of Companies, Hopewell Residential Limited Partnership, Jayman BUILT Group of Companies, Morrison Homes, Shane Homes and StreetSide Developments. Each builder will fund and construct a CHF project in RESOLVE.

At the joint kickoff event, the exterior of the existing building on the Aurora site was covered in knitted yarn by This is My City Art Society to create awareness and welcome future tenants into the communities.

Construction on Providence House is expected to begin in summer 2015 and Aurora on the Park in fall 2015.
